🚨 Important Message for Families Enrolling New Students 🚨

As we transition to Infinite Campus, we are experiencing some growing pains. Many families who began the Online Registration (OLR) process for new students may have received a message saying they’d get a follow-up email to complete the application — but unfortunately, that email was never sent due to a system issue.

💡 If you started the OLR and are still waiting for a confirmation email, please restart the process from the beginning to ensure your application is received.

📣 We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through these technical challenges.

Mustang Families,

I hope everyone is having a fantastic summer. I am writing to provide you with a couple of updates regarding the start to our year:

Kindergarten Staggered Start (Kindergarten Only):
To ensure a smooth transition, Stokes County Schools follows a staggered start for our Kindergarten students. At GES, our process is as follows:

Students with last names A–L will attend school on Wednesday, August 13, and stay home on Thursday, August 14.

Students with last names M–Z will stay home on Wednesday, August 13 and attend their first day on Thursday, August 14.

All Kindergarten students will attend together starting on Friday, August 15.

Class Rosters:

Class rosters will be established at the end of this week to ensure accurate rostering with new registrations and to minimize changes. Your child's teacher will reach out via dojo between August 5-August 6 to schedule your open house visit for August 11. If you have not received communication regarding your child's teacher by the end of the day August 6th, please call the school on August 7th. (336-591-4021). We appreciate your patience and look forward to a great school year.

Hello, this is Kenny Collishaw with Stokes County Schools. Beginning with the 2025-26 school year, Stokes County Schools has transitioned from Powerschool to a new student information system, NC SIS powered by Infinite Campus. The new NC SIS provides additional features to help you monitor your child’s educational progress and a mobile-friendly experience that makes it easier to see everything on the go. This system will replace PowerSchool as your one-stop-shop for grades, attendance, assignments and other important school information. More information will be available late July. Thank you

Subject: Update on PowerSchool Data Breach and Ongoing Protection Measures Dear Stokes County Families, We want to make you aware of a recent update related to the PowerSchool data breach that was originally reported in January of this year. Recently, several schools and North Carolina Department of Pubic Instruction (NCDPI) employees across the state received messages from threat actors claiming to have access to student and teacher data from that breach. We have been informed that several Canadian school districts have received similar messages as well. Based on the current status of NCDPI’s investigation, they believe that the threat actors have access to the same data tables that were originally compromised. These data tables include student and staff names, contact information, social security numbers (limited student social security numbers), birthdays, medical notes, passwords (limited) and parent/guardian information. NCDPI has already notified appropriate law enforcement agencies, who are actively investigating this incident. We want to assure you that your Stokes County Schools and NCDPI have done everything possible to protect this information. PowerSchool, the vendor responsible for the incident, has taken full responsibility for the breach and is providing support services for those impacted. What You Need to Know: Please do not open any suspicious links or emails related to this incident. - Do not engage with anyone claiming to have this data. - PowerSchool is offering two years of free identity protection and credit monitoring to all affected students and educators through July 1, 2025. NCDPI is advocating for this window to be extended further to ensure everyone has time to enroll. Affected individuals can enroll in identity protection and credit monitoring at no cost to themselves here --> https://www.powerschool.com/security/sis-incident/notice-of-united-states-data-breach/ Services include: - Two years of complimentary identity protection for all students and educators affected - Two years of complimentary credit monitoring for all adult students and educators affected These services are available regardless of whether an individual's Social Security number was compromised. Additional protection: Impacted users can freeze their identity for free through the North Carolina Department of Justice. LINK: https://ncdoj.gov/protecting-consumers/protecting-your-identity/free-security-freeze/ As we continue to work through this incident, we are committed to supporting students, families and staff with transparency and care. Sincerely, Phillip Bradley Rice, Ed.D. Superintendent Stokes County Schools
